External Morphology Characteristics

The upper side of the wings is orange in color with dark spots. In postdiscal and submarginal zones, there are two series of rounded dark spots. Each spot in submarginal zone is elongated. In males, in the basal zone of the upper side of the forewing, veins v1, v2 and v3 are more widely darkened. The underside of the forewing is reddish in basal, discal and postdiscal zones. Moreover, on the underside of the hindwing, in females, there are white streaks.

Behavior

Imago often feeds on thistle nectar.

Family Violaceae.

Habitat

It likes dry and warm meadows and slopes on rocky areas. Elevations: 0-1400m.
