External Morphology Characteristics
In males, the upper side of both wings is predominantly orange with a thin and dark border. The dark border is a bit wider in the apex. In females, the upper side of the forewing is orange in color with a brown border. The upper side of the hindwing is brown with orange spots in the marginal zone. The underside of the forewing is orange with a grey border. Furthermore, the underside of the hindwing is grey with merged orange spots in the marginal zone.
Behavior
Imago feeds with nectar of flowers. Males are more active.

Genus Rumex, like R. crispus, R. obtusifolius, R. sanguineus and R. hydrolapatum.
Habitat
Anthropogenic wetter meadows. Elevations: 50-600m.
