External Morphology Characteristics

In males, the upper side of both wings is blue. On the underside of both wings there is a series of orange spots. The orange spots are more pale and less prominent in males. In females, the upper side of both wings is brown with a series of orange spots more prominent on the hindwing. (1) The cell spot is missing. This is common characteristics of three species including icarinus form of Polyommatus icarus.
(2) In Polyommatus amandus, the white area in zones S3 and S4 is missing.
(3) In Polyommatus amandus‘s hindwing and forewing, the orange spots are less prominent in S5-S7 zones in males and S6-S7 zones in females.

Behavior

Imago often feeds on legume nectar.

Flower meadows at the edge of woodland. Elevations: 300-1500m.
