In postdiscal zone there is a series of white markings. In S. acaciae, the series looks more like a straight line. The series looks very uneven in S. ilicis. In S. w-album the white markings have the distinctive shape of the letter W.

The bluish spot in the S1 zone is the largest in S. spini and it is not surrounded by orange. The blue spot is very small or missing in S. ilicis. The series of orange spots is longer on S. ilicis. In S. acaciae the orange spots are merged in zones S1-S3. The bluish dark spot is surrounded by orange color. In S. pruni the orange spots on the hindwing are merged in the S1-S5 zones, each of which is accompanied by two black spots.
