External Morphology Characteristics
In males, the upper side of the wings is dark with black dots. In the marginal zone, there are orange spots. In females, the upper side of the wings is brown and orange. The postdiscal zone of the hindwing is dark with small black dots. In the submarginal zones of the wings’ underside, there are two series of black spots. Between them there are orange spots.
Behavior
Imago feeds with nectar of various flowers. Males are more active.
Caterpillar Host Plants
Genus Rumex and family Fabaceae.
Habitat
Flowering grassland vegetation. More common in wetter meadows. Elevations: 0-1200m.
